Background and Purpose

  • The establishment of the Subcommittee on Oceans and Fisheries and the decision to appoint Shandong Province as the coordinator was resolved at the 7th General Assembly in 2008. Shandong Province strives to invigorate exchange between member regions and promote the development of marine fisheries by holding events such as international academic forums, trade fairs, themed lectures, on-site inspections, etc., based on its abundant marine resources and excellent infrastructure, including advanced R&D bases, China’s sole university specializing in marine and fisheries sciences, etc.

Major Activities

  • Establish an environment-friendly development model in ocean and fisheries of Northeast Asia.
  • Facilitate academic exchange and cooperation in ocean and fisheries science.
  • Establish a mechanism of mutual trust and cooperation among members to promote fair trade of marine products.
  • Secure the safety of human life and provide humanitarian relief in cases of marine disasters.
  • Build an effective working partnership with member regional governments.
