History

  • 1962 : Designated as Ulsan Specific Industrial Zone.
  • 1995 : Ulsan City and Ulsan County are integrated.
  • 1997 : Ulsan Metropolitan City is established.

Regional Characteristics

The Taehwa River flows across Ulsan, and the Ulsan Harbor, Onsan Harbor, and Banguhjin Harbor sit in a row along Ulsan Bay, which makes Ulsan an ideal port city. Through the harbors, Ulsan has served as South Korea’s gateway to East Asia. Today, it is expanding relations in exchange and cooperation with countries around the globe.
