History

  • Bulgan Aimag belonged to the Huns before and after Christ. In the 2th and 3th Century, it was Shang and Toba. From the 6th to 8th Century, it was Tvreg.
  • From the 8th to 9th Century, it was Uigari. It was Khirgiz from the 9th to 10th Century and Kidan from the 10th to 12th Century. It belonged to Merged, Hered, Naimang, and Urianghae during the 12th and 13th Century. And it belonged to the Mongolian Empire during the 13th to 14th Century. In the middle of 16th, it was a part of Tvsheet Khan.
  • In 1937, Seleng Aimag was divided into 2 provinces, one of which became Bulgan Aimag. Bulgan Aimag was established on the 15th of January in 1938.

Geography/Climate
  • Area : 48,700㎢
  • Location: Bulgan Aimag consists of forests and meadows. It is located 160 km away from Russia and borders Selenge, Tuv, Uvurkhangai and Arkhangai Aimag. The average elevation is 1,654m above sea level, the highest point is 2,658m and the lowest point is 650m.
  • Climate : The average annual cold is 6.9-26.4 degrees below zero and the coldest temperature is 45 to 46 degrees below zero. The average annual heat is 16.9 degrees above zero and the hottest temperature is 43.5 degrees above zero.
