Mount Huangshan

Mount Huangshan was originally called Yishan (Mount Yi) due to its dark blue mountain top. It is believed the Huandi produced the Elixir of life and became a Taoist hermit, so that Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, who was a follower of Taoism, changed its name to Hwangshan in 747 AD on June 16. Ever since, through the constant grinding of the rocks, a process called orgeny, the mountain boasts a magnificent scenery of jagged rocks. Accordingly, it is called the “unique mountain” by the public.

Jiuhua Mountain

Mount Jiuhua, literally “Nine Glorious Mountains,” is located in Chizhou City, Qingyang County, Anhui Province. It is consists of 70 mountain peaks composed of granite. During the Southern Dynasties, it was called Mount Jiuzi. On travelling to the mountain, Li Bai, the Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty, composed the lines, “…I saw the peaks of Mount Jinhua emerging from the Heavenly River like nine beautiful lotus flowers…” Since then, the mountain has been called Mount Jiuhua.

Roushenbaodian

Located in the Shenguang ridge of Mount Jiuhua, it is a national temple and a heritage preservation site of Anhui Province. It is founded in during the reign of Zhengyuan of Tang. Originally a three-story stone pagoda, it is called ‘Flesh Tower’ because it was the burial site of the bodhisattva Ksitigarbha.

Bao Gongxiaosusi (Memorial Temple of Lord Bao)

The Memorial Temple of Lord Bao is located in east Hefei City, and it is also called Baogongsi. It is a shrine for Lord Bao who was the magistrate of the Song Dynasty capital, Kaifeng. It has white walls, a deep-blue tiled roof and has an enclosed Sanheyuan-style structure. The primary features are Zhaobi, Damen, Ermen, Zhengdian, Huilangan, Qingxinting, Liufangting, Lianchuanting, Zhgidaofang, Donggan, etc. The Xiaolin Temple is located near the base of Mount Song in Dengfeng City, Henan Province.
