The 2017 NEAR International Forum was held at the Sunshine Hotel in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province from September 25 to 28, and was co-organized by the NEAR Secretariat and Hunan Provincial Government. This year’s forum aimed to seek co-prosperity and development in the region through increased production capacity and enhanced cooperation in the industrial sectors in Northeast Asian countries under the theme, ‘Deepening Production Capacity, Promoting Regional Development in Northeast Asia.’

It was attended by approximately 150 scholars and experts from 27 member regions from five countries, China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia and Russia. The participants delivered presentations and held discussions over three sessions titled ‘International Cooperation in Equipment Manufacturing and Engineering Machinery’, ‘International Cooperation in Agriculture’, and ‘International Cooperation in Metallurgy and Mining.'

The NEAR International Forum, held for the eighth time this year, has been held annually or biannually since 2007, and provides a platform for member regional governments to seek solutions to various problems faced by the Northeast Asia Region.
