The NEAR Secretariat held a meeting to introduce NEAR and its activities to a delegation comprising of prefectural assembly members of six prefectures in northeast Japan, on their visit to the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government office on November 6 (Mon.), 2017.  This meeting was attended by the NEAR delegation, headed by Under-Secretary-General Park Chang-soo; 12 assembly members from Aomori, Yamagata, Akita, Miyagi, Fukushima and Iwate Prefecture; and, Ryu Changsoo, Deputy Consul General of ROK in Sendai.

The visiting delegation visited the parliament of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and attended the dinner hosted by the NEAR Secretary-General, Hong Jong-kyoung. Secretary-General Hong introduced subcommittees, especially those newly established this September such as the Subcommittee on Logistics and Transportation, to the delegation and asked for their participation in the forthcoming meetings. Non-member prefectures which are additionally requested by Secretary-General Hong are eligible to participate as observers.
