NEAR Secretariat Visits Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University2018-04-17

A delegation from the NEAR Secretariat headed by the secretary-general visited Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University (KSAU) on April 11 (Wed.), during a visit to the Krasnoyarsk Territory to attend the General Assembly of the Northern Forum and the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. The delegation met with the leadership of KSAU, including the vice-president for Science, Bopp Valentina Leonidovna, to discuss cooperation plans involving agricultural research institutes and universities located within NEAR members states. The NEAR Secretariat delivered a proposal to conduct joint research projects on the cultivation of food and medicinal crops, as well as on the development of new technologies by Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services located in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, which is home to the NEAR Secretariat.



The delegation also met with Lefler Tamara Fedorovna, the director of the Institute of Applied Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine, and research staff, and visited a seed laboratory and a livestock clinic.



KSAU was established in April 1952 for the development of agricultural productivity in Siberia and ranks seventh out of forty-nine agricultural universities in the country. It consists of eight institutes, around fifty departments, and has more than 12,000 students. In addition, the university owns agricultural land spanning an area of 7,600 hectares, to conduct its own practical research and participate in the development of regional agricultural produce.
