Secretary-General Kim Ok-chae Attends the 7th Economic Cooperation Forum of CEOs in Northeast Asia Sponsored by NEAR Secretariat2021-09-10

On September 10, Secretary-General Kim Ok-chae attended the 7th Economic Cooperation Forum of CEOs in Northeast Asia as a guest. The forum was hosted by Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, South Korea, and sponsored by the NEAR Secretariat. It was held both online and offline, and the offline venue was the POSCO International Center.


Under the theme, The Roles and Tasks of Focus Cities in Northeast Asia for Innovation of Business,” officials and CEOs from Vladivostok City of Russia, Joetsu City of Japan, Hunchun City of China, and Pohang City of South Korea made presentations via video, followed by experts presentations and panel discussions.


In his opening remarks, Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang City said we had entered a new era. He stated that amid the dual crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, the demand for the fourth industrial revolution, including digital transformation and the need for carbon neutrality, has accelerated. Thus, the survival of local governments would no longer be guaranteed without genuine innovationHe also expressed his hopes that focus cities in Northeast Asia would continue to exchange actively and carry on substantial cooperation.
