Nine people, including Congressman J. Batsuuri, Consul-General in Busan Unerzaya, and other congressmen from Sukhbaatar, Mongolia visited the NEAR Secretariat and exchanged opinions on methods of cooperation between NEAR and Mongolian member regional governments.

Mr. Lim welcomed the visit of Mr. Batsuuri and his delegation to the Secretariat, stating that it was meaningful, as they were the first foreign guests since his appointment on February 1. He expressed his gratitude for the active participation of the 22 Mongolian members in various events hosted by NEAR so far, and requested their continued active participation in the upcoming events this year such as the NEAR General Assembly, Working-level Workshop, NEAR International Forum, and Youth ArtPoster Contest, etc.

Mr. Batsuuri stated that during his term as a governor of Sukbaatar Aimag between 2008 and 2016, he participated in various activities of NEAR, so he is well aware of the importance of NEAR in promoting exchange among Northeast Asian regional governments. He expressed his interest in the investment of airport construction in Sukhbaatar, opening of a Mongolia-China-Korea logistics route, recruitment of Mongolian human resources into different Korean regions, and Korean tourists visiting Mongolian grasslands. Thus, he requested support from NEAR in such activities and also promised to cooperate in ensuring active participation on the part of Mongolian members in the scheduled events this year such as the NEAR General Assembly.

The NEAR Secretariat plans to share information related to Sukhbaar Aimag with other members through the NEAR website and other possible means to actively support exchange and cooperation in various fields such as personnel, economic, and tourist exchange, as requested by Sukhbaar delegation.
