On March 22, NEAR Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin met with PARK Enna, former Korean ambassador to the UK in Busan. She is currently serving as the executive chair of the Citizens Committee to host Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo. Mr. Lim introduced NEAR and exchanged opinions with Ms. Park on the tasks NEAR must tackle in the current political landscape. He also asked former Ambassador Park for her advice and assistance as a high-level experienced diplomat on how NEAR continues to grow as a multilateral platform of exchange and cooperation for regional governments in Northeast Asia.

In response, Ms. Park stated that she would pay more attention to the activities of NEAR and provide necessary advice and assistance.

Former Ambassador Park is a high-level diplomat with many years of experience, who once served as the Minister at the Korean Embassy to China, Ambassador for Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador to the UK. She retired last year as an ambassador for international relations in Busan. She is currently serving as the chair of the Citizen’s Committee for Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo.
