The Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR) has finalized the selection of participants for the 2025 NEAR Member Government Officials Training Program. From March 19 to May 2, applications were received from NEAR member governments, and based on country and member balance, a total of 18 officials from 6 countries were selected. Official notice has been sent to the selected participants.

A total of 25 government officials from six countries applied for the program: 5 from China, 12 from Mongolia, 2 from Russia, 3 from Kyrgyzstan, 1 from Kazakhstan, and 2 from Uzbekistan, reflecting high interest. The final participants were selected through a review of application materials and English interviews conducted by phone.

The final list of selected participants includes 5 from China, 9 from Mongolia, 1 from Russia, 1 from Kyrgyzstan, 1 from Kazakhstan, and 1 from Uzbekistan.

The 2025 NEAR Member Government Officials Training Program is organized by the NEAR Secretariat and fueled by the budgets of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and the City of Pohang. Following the success of its inaugural session in 2024 and strong demand from member governments, the program is being implemented for a second consecutive year.

Last year’s participants attended lectures on topics of shared relevance to Northeast Asia, such as Korea’s Saemaul Undong(New Village Movement), regional development success stories, the digital economy, climate change, and forest restoration. They also developed action plans as their final project, many of which were submitted as policy proposals after returning to their home governments, adding practical value to the program.

Additionally, outstanding graduates of the program may be offered the opportunity to apply for a two-year full scholarship at the Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul Studies at Yeungnam University.
