On November 5, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, in cooperation with the Gyeongnam Research Institute, held a roundtable on “Establishing Jinhae New Port as a Hub for Advancing into the Arctic Shipping Route” at the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council conference room.
The roundtable was a follow-up to the seminar titled “Gyeongsangnam-do’s Strategies for Developing Jinhae New Port as a Hub for Advancing into the Arctic Shipping Route” held in August. It was organized to conduct an in-depth discussion on strategies for entering the Arctic shipping route based on the province’s competitiveness in its core industries—shipbuilding, ports, and logistics.
Participants agreed to continue close cooperation to ensure that the policy tasks discussed during the meeting are reflected in the national strategy plan for the Arctic shipping route currently being developed by the central government.
Gyeongsangnam-do Province plans to operate an advisory committee consisting of experts from industry, academia, research, and government sectors to continuously discuss strategies for entering the Arctic shipping route centered on Jinhae New Port and to establish a systematic foundation for policy implementation.
