This overland transport corridor is expected to reduce the existing 30-day shipping period to 15 days, and is regarded as a key element in establishing a new Eurasian trade and logistics structure that does not rely on maritime infrastructure.
It is also significant in that it could serve as an alternative to major traditional maritime routes such as the Strait of Malacca, the Strait of Hormuz, the Suez Canal, and the Northern Sea Route.
