On Wednesday, March 12, LIM Byung-jin, Secretary-General of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR), hosted a dialogue and exchanged opinions concerning issues such as cooperation with NEAR and the operation of the Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation. The discussion involved delegates from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, headed by WANG Xuejun (王学军), Deputy-Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, who participated in the 2025 NEAR Members Workshop held at Lotte Hotel Jeju.

Mr. Lim emphasized that the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region plays an important role in NEAR energy cooperation, highly praising the successful hosting of the 1st NEAR Subcommittee Conference on Energy Cooperation held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in July last year. In addition, he stated that this year’s workshop will be the largest workshop to date, with a total of over 120 participants from 46 NEAR member governments in six countries and six related institutions. Mr. Lim also expressed his hope that the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will continue to play an active role in energy cooperation and other fields.

In response, Mr. Wang highly praised NEAR for its essential role in multilateral and bilateral cooperation in Northeast Asia. He expressed appreciation for the NEAR Secretariat for its ongoing attention and support in cooperation with the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and indicated that they would continue to participate in NEAR’s events actively.
In addition, the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region stated that they would maintain close cooperation with the NEAR Secretariat for the successful organization of the Subcommittee Conference on Energy Cooperation.
