NEAR Secretariat Visits Kyoto Prefecture, Japan to Discuss NEAR Forum on Cruise Tour2018-11-26

A NEAR delegation headed by Director Park Sung-min of the Department of International Cooperation visited Kyoto Prefecture, Japan for three days from Monday, November 19 to Wednesday, November 21, 2018. On Tuesday, November 20 the NEAR Delegation held a meeting with officials from Maizuru City and Kyoto Prefecture at Maizuru City Hall to discuss the upcoming, tentatively titled, NEAR Forum on Cruise Tour,  to be held in February 2019, after being pushed back from the original launch date in December. The two parties met to discuss the speakers, participants, and plans to run cruise ships between Maizuru, Japan, and Pohang, Korea. The meeting was attended by Director Park Sung-min and Expert on Japan, Son Mi-kyoung, from the International Cooperation Department of NEAR. They were joined by four members of  Kyoto Prefecture including Director General Osamu Mishima of Port Breau, Deputy Director Mashimo Keiko of Port Promotion Section Ports Bureau, three people from Maizuru City including Director Minoru Komori of Business Creation Office, two people from Director Toru Iida of Kyoto Maizuru Port Promotion Association, and Director Kim Jong-hoon of Ports & Logistics Division from Pohang City.

 

On the afternoon of November 20, the NEAR Delegation held a meeting with Vice-Governor Shigeru TsuTsumi of Maizuru City and Kyoto Prefecture where they asked for their participation in the NEAR Forum on Cruise Tour and the first NEAR Subcommittee on Logistics and Transportation which will be held in Suifenhe, Heilongjian Province, China in June 2019.

 

On Monday, November 19, the NEAR delegation visited the No.2 Port of Maizuru City, met with staff members of the Port, and had a tour of the docks and terminals.
