Lee Young-seok, newly appointed Director General of the Gyeonsangbuk-do Province Maritime and Fishery Bureau, visited the NEAR Secretariat and spoke with Secretary General Kim Ok-chae, exchanging opinions on ways to cooperate with NEAR on March 15.

Secretary General Kim said that Shandong Province, China hosted the Subcommittee on Oceans and Fisheries, one of 17 NEAR subcommittees, and asked Director General Lee for active participation of the Maritime and Fishery Bureau.

Director General Lee previously served as the Director of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Division of Foreign Affairs and Trade which was in charge of cooperation with NEAR. He demonstrated a deep understanding of the work of NEAR and stated that he would participate in international exchange events in the area of ocean logistics as well as maritime fisheries going forward.
