For the successful holding of the upcoming 14th NEAR High-Level Working Committee, the NEAR Secretariat actively supported Liaoning Province of China, the NEAR chair, in organizing the event by delivering the Liaoning governor’s invitation letter and event details to NEAR members and encouraging them to participate in the event. The committee is scheduled to take place in Shenyang from September 24 to 26.
As of today on September 13, 91 participants from 39 member regions of 6 countries expressed their intention to participate in the committee—35 from China, 12 from Japan, 18 from South Korea, 14 from Mongolia, 8 from Russia, and 4 from Kyrgyzstan. Among them, high-level officials include 2 governors, 2 vice-governors, and 22 (vice) director-level dignitaries, which makes this year’s high-level working committee the largest ever in size. (Liaoning excluded)
The main agendas for this year’s NEAR High-Level Working Committee include granting regular membership to Qinghai Province, associate membership to Chuy Area, and special membership to Pohang City. The event will also cover discussions exploring ways to revitalize NEAR Subcommittees and to successfully hold the NEAR General Assembly next year.
