Nitta Hachiro Inaugurated as New Governor of Toyama Prefecture, Japan2020-12-04

Nitta Hachiro was inaugurated as the 21st governor of Toyama Prefecture, Japan on November 9.
Governor Nitta graduated from the Department of Economics at Hitotsubashi University in Japan. Afterward, he took an active role as a businessman in the banking and gas industries. He also served as a senior executive at the Junior Chamber International Japan and the Junior Chamber International.
Toyama Prefecture joined as a founding member of the North East Asia Regional Convention in 1993 and made a huge contribution to the establishment of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments in 1996. Furthermore, the prefecture is the coordinator government of the Sub-Committee on Environment and has held the Sub-Committee on Environment 14 times, demonstrating its proactive role in invigorating exchange among the Association.
NEAR Secretary General Kim Ok-chae sent a congratulatory letter to Governor Nitta on his inauguration on December 4 and asked Toyama Prefecture to show continued leadership in its effort to enhance exchange and cooperation between Northeast Asian regional governments.
