On Tuesday, October 28, NEAR Secretary-General Lim Byung-jin met in Seoul with Shan Yi, Vice Governor of Liaoning Province, who was visiting Korea to attend the third Korea-China Governors Forum. The two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
Secretary-General Lim welcomed the visit of the Liaoning delegation and expressed appreciation for the province’s significant contributions to the development of NEAR over the past two years as the chair member government. He also provided an overview of NEAR’s recent activities and future plans, expressing hope that Liaoning Province would continue to work closely with the NEAR Secretariat to advance not only its own development but also the overall progress of the Northeast Asian region.

Vice Governor Shan expressed gratitude for Secretary-General Lim’s continued attention and support for Liaoning Province, noting that the province attaches great importance to the NEAR platform and will continue to actively cooperate with NEAR to promote substantive cooperation across various fields. He also mentioned plans to hold a meeting of the NEAR Subcommittee on Digital Economy alongside the “Liaoning International Friendship Cities Conference,” scheduled for May next year, and requested the NEAR Secretariat’s support in inviting high-level representatives and businesses to ensure the success of both events.
In response, Secretary-General Lim expressed that NEAR's commitment to providing full support as circumstances allow.

The meeting was attended by Luo Li, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Province, and Zhao Xiaoying, Division Director of the same office, from the Liaoning side, and by Choi Ju-hwa, Director of the International Cooperation Department, from the NEAR Secretariat.
