The first South Korea-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum take place in early November in Pohang City, South Korea. 26 metropolitan governments are set to attend and the participants will discuss the development of cooperative exchange platforms in various fields such as economy and trade, culture, education, and tourism. From Russia, 9 provincial governments including Primorsky Region, Khabarovsk Region, Amur Region, Sakhalin Region, Kamchatka Region, Sakha Republic, Magadan Region, Chukotka Autonomous District, and Jewish Autonomous Region are likely to attend the forum. The Korea-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum is based on an agreement made between President Moon jae-in and Preseident Vladimir Putin at the Korea-Russia summit held in September last year in Vladivostok, Russia. In the future, the Korean and Russian metropolitan regional governments will each take turns in hosting the forum. This year, the forum will take place in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, South Korea and in Primorsky Region, Russia the following year.
