○ The 15th International “Altargana” Festival, dedicated to preserving and passing down the Buryat people’s heritage and traditions, took place from July 26 to 28 in Bulgan Aimag, Mongolia.
○ The festival was attended by leading figures of the Mongolian government and the Republic of Buryatia, who came to deliver congratulatory messages. Additionally, approximately 60,000 people from 30+ regions of Mongolia, Russia, and China were present at the event.
○ The festival featured 13 sub-events, including the opening and closing ceremonies, academic seminars, competitions promoting the Buryat language and culture, a traditional triathlon, and a handcraft display & sale.
○ The “Altargana” festival began in 1994 in Hentii Aimag as a Buryat singing competition and has evolved into an international festival of Buryat folk arts and traditional customs, held every two years.
