Earth’s land surface has been directly modified by human-induced actions and its indirect consequences are affecting the entire earth as a system. Agriculture, forestry and other land uses are contributing to net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and they play a crucial role of absorbing and/or preventing the release of CO2. In view of this, it is vital to enhance sustainable land management in ecosystems. The IPCC AR5 explains that the mitigation potential of land use changes is highly dependent on broader factors related to land-use policy and patterns. With this rationale, the APN’s 3rd Science-Policy Dialogue themed “Land Use and Climate Change in Temperate East Asia,” part of a series of three APN-organised dialogues since 2012, aims to share and discuss scientific knowledge on effective land management with policy makers and strengthen communications and links among science, policy and practitioner communities. Ultimately, the SPD aims to assist dialogue and knowledge-sharing among scientists and policy makers in TEA that will bring about relevance for effective policy formulation in the Temperate East Asia region. • Six sessions in two days (rapid talks from experts, knowledge-sharing panel sessions, café kiosks, games, roundtable sessions, daily media round-ups) • A synthesis session on day 3 • A field visits on the final day From 2-5 November 2015 in Mongolia Countries engaged: China, Japan, Mongolia, Republic of Korea, and Russian Federation For more information, please visit: http://www.apn-gcr.org/?p=9319
