Mungyeong-si and Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do were selected for the Ecotourism Promotion Project 2017, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Ecotourism Promotion Project aims for the creation of further tourism content, as well as the activation of ecotourism by regional governments. Through the project, "History through Roads- The old Road and eco-culture over the Hill,” various ecotourism programs such as wildflower planting and the installation of educational infrastructure specifically on ecotourism activities will be implemented. The Geumgangsong Healing Camp run by Uljin-gun is an existing representative eco-friendly forest road that utilizes the natural environment and is one of the preserved areas of the existing Geumgang pine forest. Gyeongsangbuk-do Province anticipates the vitalization of the local economy as the projects are predicted to attract more tourists, along with the existing tourist routes such as Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park, Mungyeong Saejae Wildflower Complex, Natural Ecology Museum, Uljin Gumgangsong Village, and Dukgu Hot Spring.
