History

  • Uvurkhangai Province has been established in 7th Feb 1931 with 31 sounds.

Topographic Features

  • Uvurkhangai Province has very beautiful nature. Branches of Hangai Mountains are in the northern area and branches of Altai Mountains and steppes are in the central and southern area of the province. About 23% of the territory is covered by forests, 28.2% steppe, and 48.8% are covered by the Govi Desert. There are many small and big springs that can be used as a medical treatment, including Arovor Khiatruun, Khamar mogoit, Taats, Most, Khvren khad, Takhi, Khorkhoi tvrvv, Khvremt, Emt, and Vvrt. Among these, the most famous spring with excellent medical effects are Khujirt.
  • There are many famous arts and historical assets in Uvurkhangai including monuments, human shaped stones, Khar Khot (the capital of Uighur), Khari Khorim (the capital of Mongol in the 13th Century) and Erdene zuu established in the late 16th Century.

  • Area : 63,500㎢
  • Location : Uvurkhangai Province is located at the central part of Mongolia, and borders Arkhangai, Bulgan, Tuv to the north, Dundgovi Province to the east, and Umnugovi Province to the south. East-west distance is 310km, and south-north distance is 385km.
  • Climate : The Uvurhangai Aimag has various topography such as branches of Khangai and Gobialtai Mountains, forest, steppe, and Gobi Desert so that the climate is capricious. Going down from north to south region, It becomes warm as the rainfall decreases. The average annual temperature is 2.1 degrees below zero at forest area, 1.0 degrees at steppe area, 3.7 degrees at the Gobi Desert, and highest temperature reaches up to 44.8 degrees, and lowest temperature reaches down to 44.8 degrees below zero. The average annual rainfall is 306.1mm at forest area, 277.3mm at steppe area, and 117.2mm at the Gobi Desert. The feature of each area causes many natural disasters.
