Subcommittee on Educational and Cultural Exchange

Background and Purpose

  • It is one of the five Subcommittees – Subcommittee on Economy & Trade, Subcommittee on Cultural Exchange, Subcommittee on Environment, Subcommittee on Disaster, and Subcommittee on General Exchange – which were established at the 1998 Meeting of the Association of Northeast Asia Regional Governments (the 2nd General Assembly) held in October 1998
  • It aims to expedite mutual understanding and build new networks for human resources and culture through youth and cultural exchange in Northeast Asia.
  • The Sub-Committee on Cultural Exchange was integrated with the Sub-Committee on General Exchange in the 7th General Assembly held in Shandong Province, 2008, and was changed to the Sub-Committee on Educational and Cultural Exchange.

Major Activities

  • Being in charge of cultural exchange after discussing multilateral joint business at the first meeting (2002~), Held Northeast Asia’s international culture palette business (2005~)
  • Northeast Asia’s Wings of Exchange (since 2002)
    • An exchange program aimed at Northeast Asian youths to promote mutual understanding of each region, enhance friendship exchange, and build new networks in Northeast Asia in the rich natural environment of Shimane Prefecture.
  • Northeast Asia's International Culture Palette (since 2005)
    • To promote mutual exchange and establish networks in Northeast Asia through cultural exchange activities, such as traditional culture, entertaining performances, etc., in Northeast Asia.
