Background and Purpose
One of the 5 Sub-Committees established in the '98 Meeting of the Association of Northeast Asia Regional Governments (the 2nd General Assembly) held in October 1998
The purpose of the Sub-Committee is to contribute to improve the disaster prevention ability of the Northeast Asian region through exchanges in the disaster prevention field. Since each country and/or region has different capacity to cope with different natural disasters including earthquake, flood, forest fire, drought, and others, the Sub-Committee on Disaster Prevention has been implementing exchange projects in sharing information and fostering human resources.
Major Activities
Experience of disaster training, including lectures on Hyogo’s disaster prevention measures
Opinion exchange with staff of international disaster prevention organizations such as Asian Disaster Reduction Center and International Recovery Platform (IRP)
