Mount Tai
Located in the middle of Shandong Province, the total area of Mount Tai is 426 km2, and the main peak, Yuhuanding, stands at an altitude of 1545 meters. It is a national park, a National 5A Level Tourist Attraction, and a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level. It is located in the middle of Taianshi of Shandong Province, and it is known for being the greatest among China’s five great mountains. There is a saying that “If Mount Tai is in a peace, the whole world is in a peace” because the Chinese people worshipped Mount Tai from days of old. According to Shiji (Records of the Grand Historian), rites to heaven of 72 kings were held during Qin dynasty followed by the rites of 12 other emperors. Mount Tai is comparatively well preserved, there are 26 architectural clusters, 58 temples, 128 ruins, 1239 memorial stone, and 1800 engravings in the rock cliff. There are 18,000 trees older than 100 years, 23 of them are designated as World Natural Heritage. In 2006 Mount Tai was designated as a UNESCO World Culture, Natural and Geological Heritage Site. It is linked to Mount Ali in Taiwan, Mount Fuji in Japan, and Mount Halla in Korea.
Qufu, Kongzi’s Remains
Kongmiao, Kongfu and Konglin are known as Sankong (The Three Kongs). It was designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1994. In May 5 2007, the Kongzi’s Hometown-Qufu Tourism District was officially ratified by the China National Tourism Administration, and designated as a National 5A Level Tourist Attraction. It is a symbol of China’s ancient confucian ideology and and important heritage site of Chinese history, culture and arts.
The Ancient city of Taierzhuang
The Ancient city of Taierzhuang/ Taierzhuang is located in the center of Jinghang Grand Canal. It lies on the border of four provinces of Lu (Shandong Province), Xu (Jiangsu Province), Yu (Henan Province) and Wan (Anhui Province). Its construction began in the Jin-Han era, and it was developed during the Tang and Song Dynasties. The city was most prosperous during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Emperor Qianlong named the village “the finest village in the world.” The total area of the city measures 2km2 and it is divided into 11 functional areas. It is the largest ancient city in China. designated as a national 5A class tourist destination, and is known for "the most beautiful water fauna in China."
Penglai Pavilion
The Penglai Pavilion is one of the four major ancient buildings of China. It is the essence of architectural arts of the Ancient Han Chinese. It is called the “Wonderland of the Human World” and is known for the legend of “Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea” and “Mirage on the Sea” phenomenon.
