On June 1, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin attended the 9^th Economic Cooperation Forum of CEO in Northeast Asia, an event hosted by Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

During the luncheon hosted by Mayor LEE Kang-deok of Pohang City, Mr. Lim provided Mr. Lee with NEAR’s recent activities and said that Pohang’s application for the NEAR special membership will soon allow the city to utilize the NEAR platform. In addition, Mr. Lim promised for NEAR’s full support to assist Pohang to grow as an international hub city of Northeast Asia, since Pohang is a city renowned for its excellent industries like steel and secondary batteries, its competent local government, and outstanding universities including POSTECH and Handong Global University.

This year’s Economic Cooperation Forum of CEO in Northeast Asia was held under the theme of “Rapidly-changing Northeast Asia, the New Role of the Regional Governments,” being participated by 8 cities of South Korea, China, and Japan: Pohang; Hunchun; Changchun; Qingdao; Rizhao; Fukuyama; Joetsu; and Davao.
