History
- 1105 : Tamna County is established.
- 1192 : The name of Tamna County is changed to Jeju.
- 1915 : Reorganized to Jeju-do Province.
- 1946 : The province system is adopted. (two counties, one town, and 12 townships)
- 2006 : Jeju Special Self-governing Province is established. The administrative districts are reorganized into two administrative cities, seven towns, five townships, and 31 neighborhoods.
Regional Characteristics
- Jeju creates natural beauty out of the exquisite natural scenery, with Hallasan rising in the middle of the island. It is a major tourist site, surrounded by the ocean.
- Jeju has a reputation for its beautiful nature both at home and abroad. The changes in the ocean, along with Azalea blossoms in spring, greenery in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowy landscape in winter, which Hallasan unfolds by season, captivates tourists.
