History

  • It has been 65 years since the Aimag was established by the first conference, with some Gers built in Embuu dersene swamp. It was initially established by selecting residence of the biggest farm in front of the Northern Zoojiin Kahr in Mandalgobi.

Geography/Climate
  • Area : 74,700㎢
  • Location : Dundgovi is located near Uvurkhangai, Umnugovi, Tuv, and Dornogovi Aimag. While distances between Khar Tolgoi in the north end and Uvurtsagaan Tsagaad Ders in the south end are 280km, distances between Dolan Mountain in the west end and Khukh del in the east end are 425km. Mandalgobi, the capital of Aimag, is 260 km away from Ulaan Baataar.
  • Climate : The province is divided into 3 sub areas in terms of climate: mountain steppe area with dry and cool climate, very dry and moderate warm area and desert steppe area. Dundgovi has warm climate. Clear days in the year are approximately between 100 and 120 and hours of sunshine per year are approximately 3,000 hours. Average temperature is 30~35 degrees in the summer and 35~40 degrees in the winter.
