On April 18, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin made his visit to the Cabinet Secretariat of Mongolia and met with Deputy Head Urgamal BYAMBASUREN. 

Expressing his appreciation to the Mongolia’s central government for having been supporting Mongolian member regions to participate in NEAR activities for the past decades, Mr. Lim presented Mr. Byambasuren with the recent participation status of Mongolian member regions in NEAR activities as well as this year’s major events including the NEAR High-Level Working Committee and the NEAR Member Training Program, a newly created event that was originally suggested by a Mongolian member region. 

At the same time, Mr. Lim called upon the Cabinet Secretariat of Mongolia to continue its support for NEAR activities as the influence of NEAR is growing with the increasing participation rate of each of its members recently.  

In response, Mr. Byambasuren acknowledged that NEAR is making a significant contribution to fostering local government exchange in Northeast Asia and promised his continued support, as the central government in charge of international exchange management, to encourage the Mongolian local governments to participate in NEAR activities. He also expressed his hope for the Cabinet Secretariat engaging in NEAR activities through active communication with the NEAR Secretariat. 

During his travel in Mongolia, Mr. Lim accompanied Governor LEE Cheol-woo of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to various events including the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan of Mongolia, MOU Signing Ceremony between Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Ulaanbaatar City on energy & urban development, "Taste of Gyeongsangbuk-do" event, and the int’l student recruiting session at the National University of Mongolia.
