Secretary-General Holds a Meeting with the Heads of Mongolian NEAR Member Regions2024-04-23

Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin had a meeting with the heads and vice-heads of NEAR member regions of Mongolia at Tuushin hotel, during his visit to Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia, from April 17 to 19.


The meeting was attended by three governors and six vice-governors from nine Mongolian NEAR member regions.



The meeting started by Mr. Lim’s briefing on NEAR activities and major events for this year. After that, opinions and requests were casted from the Mongolian members and the answers followed. 



Diverse opinions and suggestions were put forward by the Mongolian members regarding the NEAR Member Training Program, an event to be held this June, the int’l student recruiting project of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and the promotion of the culture & tourism of the Mongolian member regions through the NEAR Secretariat. After the meeting, the participants proceeded to the dinner hosted by Secretary-General Lim at Tuushin hotel. 



During the meeting, Governor LEE Cheol-woo of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province introduced the history and economic development status of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province as well as its international student recruiting policy for Mongolians, expressing his hope for close cooperation and exchange with the Mongolian local governments in the years to come.
