○ On May 7, Governor LEE Cheol-woo of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province met with Chinese Ambassador XING Haiming to South Korea who visited the office of Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government. There, they discussed initiatives of exchange & cooperation between their two regions.

○ “For more than 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and China, the two countries have grown together as economic partners,” said Mr. Lee. He added, “Let us enhance our efforts towards subnational diplomacy and create a new engine of growth to ensure a win-win for the both countries in the areas such as culture & tourism.”

○ In response, Mr. Xing stressed the importance of the bilateral cooperation between the two geographically neighboring countries, and conveyed his hopes that South Korea and China would continue their collaboration to address various challenges before them.
