○ The Special Act on the Construction of a New Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated Airport was passed at the plenary session in the National Assembly on April 13.

○ It aims at starting the construction in 2025 and opening as a joint civilian-military airport in 2030.

○ In response, Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province plan to concentrate their administrative efforts on "advanced logistics and passenger airport construction" and "creation of an airport economic zone." This is expected to lead to local growth by attracting conglomerates and creating jobs, and ultimately fueling the growth engine to help overcome the local extinction.
