On January 16, LEE Young-seok, Head of the Pan East Sea Regional Headquarters, Gyeongsangbuk-do, visited the NEAR Secretariat and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest with Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin.

Mr. Lim explained the achievements of NEAR activities in 2023 and NEAR's operation planS for 2024, and requested the Pan East Sea Regional Headquarters, Gyeongsangbuk-do to actively participate in and support NEAR's various activities.

Mr. Lee highly appreciated NEAR's activities and promised to explore ways to cooperate in the field of energy such as nuclear energy in the future.

The Pan East Regional Headquarters, Gyeongsangbuk-do is located in Pohang City, and its organization consists of the Office of General Affairs and Civil Complaints Office, the East Sea Strategic Industry Bureau, the Maritime & Fishery Bureau, the Fishing Technology Center, and the Fishery Resources Research Center. Its main tasks include east coast development, energy industry, nuclear policy, marine fisheries policy, marine leisure, fishery technology support, and fishery resources research. Over 200 employees are currently working there.
