Construction has recently commenced on a 4.6-kilometer ($1.3 billion) bridge spanning the Lena River within the Republic of Sakha, Russia. Approved by the Russian government on November 9, 2023, the Lena River Bridge is projected to reach completion by 2028.

The Lena River, flowing from east to west across the territory of the Republic of Sakha, presents a significant challenge to residents on both sides, particularly in facilitating travel to and from the city of Yakuchuk, the republic's capital, situated on the opposite bank. Moreover, this location intersects major Russian railways, including the renowned Trans-Siberian Railway. Consequently, the anticipated opening of the Lena River Bridge is poised to catalyze the transformation of Yakutsk into a pivotal transportation and logistics hub.

Furthermore, the Lena River Bridge will establish a vital link to the Trans-Siberian Railway, thereby facilitating connectivity to the Arctic Ocean Route.
