○ KIM Yung-rok, the governor of Jeollanam-do Province, is scheduled to visit Zhejiang Province, China, from July 8 to 10 to strengthen cooperation with Zhejiang and to attract outbound tourists to Jeollanam-do by revitalizing Muan International Airport.
○ During his travel, Mr. Kim will deliver a tourism presentation on Jeollanam-do, sign an MOU for opening the regular air route between Muan and Hangzhou, discuss ways to promote cooperation between Jeollanam-do and Zhejiang in the areas such as the economy, culture, and tourism.
○ Jeollanam-do is maintaining sisterhood relationship or friendly cooperation with 10 local governments in China. Among them, Zhejiang is the region that Jeollanam-do has cooperated with for the longest time.
After signing an agreement on friendly exchange in 1993, the two regions upgraded their relationship to sisterhood and have shown an exemplary case of Korea-China relationship for over 30 years.
