NEAR Secretariat delegation headed by Secretary General Jun Jae-won participated in the ‘Eurasia Friendship Express’ event in Irkutsk, Russia from July 18 to 21. ‘Eurasia Friendship Express’ is a demonstration business of ‘Eurasia Initiative’ and a transcontinental train of Eurasia passing through Seoul and Vladivostok, to reach its final destination in Berlin traveling 14,400 kilometers over 20 days marking the 70th anniversary of the division of the Korean Peninsula as well as the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Russia. Secretary General Jun gave his support and encouragement hoping that the expedition team has a good journey by taking part in welcoming event and Eurasia grand festival as Irkutsk is a chair region of NEAR and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province participated in the event as a co-hosting region for the Eurasia grand festival during the period of ‘Eurasia Friendship Express.’ In addition, Secretary General Jun talked with First Deputy Chairman of Irkutsk as part of participating in the event and expressed his gratitude for Irkutsk’s interest and support for NEAR’s development as a chair region of NEAR. He requested continued interest and cooperation for main events such as NEAR Working Committee in October and General Assembly in 2016, the 20th anniversary of NEAR’s founding.
