While attending the 8th NEAR Subcommittee on Oceans and Fisheries held in Weihai City, Shandong Province, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin met with Vice-governor FAN Bo on September 22, to discuss recent NEAR activities and Shandong's participation in the NEAR activities. Mr. Lee expressed his appreciation for Shandong’s successful hosting of seven NEAR subcommittee meetings on Oceans and Fisheries. He further requested Mr. Fan for his continued interest and support for NEAR activities in the future.

In response, Mr. Fanbo welcomed Mr. Lim's visit to Shandong and said that the province attaches great importance to cooperation with NEAR, and promised to continue to actively participate in various NEAR activities and revitalize the Subcommittee on Oceans and Fisheries in particular.

The event was attended by 8 participants, including YAN Jianbo, communist party secretary of Weihai City, Shandong Province, LU Jie, deputy secretary of the Shandong Provincial People's Government, ZHANG Jiandong, director of the Oceans Bureau, and YAN Dong, deputy director of the Oceans Bureau, and LI Jian, secretary of Weihai Municipal Committee, ZHAO Baogang, vice-mayor of Weihai City.  KIM Sol, economic consul of the Korean Consulate-General in Qingdao, KIM Woong-seo, the 10^th president of the Korean Institute of Marine Science and Technology, HWANG Seong-su, deputy director of the Division of Maritime & Fisheries, Maritime & Fisheries Bureau of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and CHO Sun-hwa, deputy-director of the International Cooperation Department of the NEAR Secretariat also participated in the meeting.
