“The Northeast Asia Wings of Exchange in Shimane 2014,” one of the projects of the Sub-Committee on Educational and Cultural Exchange, was held from August 1-6 in Shimane Prefecture, Japan. The meeting, which is annually held as part of Sub-Committee on Educational & Cultural Exchange, seeks to build a network to improve mutual understanding and to foster friendship exchanges among the youth of the Northeast Asian regions. The Sub-Committee was attended by a total of 27 people from four countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, and Russia as well as the NEAR Secretariat; participants spent a meaningful time improving exchanges with local residents through a variety of programs such as experiencing home-stay and traditional Japanese culture.
