Secretary General Kim Jae-hyo of the Association of Northeast Asia Regional Governments and President Michele Shabban of R20 Regions of Climate Action signed a MoU to promote low-carbon development and green growth of Northeast Asia on August 28 in Khabarovsk, Russia. NEAR and R20 agreed to work together to develop and facilitate the financing of low carbon projects in NEAR’s member regions, as well as other Northeast Asian regions, by leveraging and mobilizing resources from European/Northeast Asian government, institutions, clean tech companies as well as financial institutions. Both In addition, R20 agreed to mobilize resources from Europe for the latest clean technology and application programs while NEAR agreed to provide related information as well as Northeast Asian clean technology and application programs to make interested parties of Europe and Northeast Asia participate in low-carbon development and green growth initiative by developing a new application program between Europe and Northeast Asia.
