The Secretariat Delegation Visited Russian Member Regions □ Krasnoyarsk Territory(August 5, 2013) The Secretariat delegation, led by Secretary General Kim Jae-hyo, officially visited the Krasnoyarsk Territory to promote exchange and cooperation with Russian member regions. - Kuzmin, Director of Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the visit of Secretary General and the Secretariat staffs and expressed his sympathy for the fact that the cooperative relationship would be promoted through cultural exchanges which are Krasnoyarsk Territory government’s major interest. Meanwhile, he requested the NEAR Secretariat’s active support in International Economic Forum which is held in March, 2014, and Siberia Resource Development Forum, which is held in July and June. - Secretary General Kim requested the Krasnoyarsk Territory’s active interest and participation in NEAR events despite a long distance and inconvenient transportations. Meanwhile, he expressed that there is great economic exchange in Far East region and promised to actively support the fair and information sharing to promote economic exchange of the Krasnoyarsk territory, which is geographically located in the center. □ Republic of Tuva(August 5~7.2013) - Secretary General Kim and the Secretariat staff, who were invited to the Republic of Tuva, promised to do activities for exchange and cooperation of Northeast Asia. - While Kozlov, Vice chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Tuva showed his interest in agriculture, mining development, railway project, and infrastructure establishment, cultural exchange, and tourism industry, he requested the NEAR Secretariat’s active support(direct dealing of deer antlers, development project of tube well). - Secretary General said that each NEAR Sub-Committee is in activity and asked them to participate in the Sub-Committee on Agriculture, which is held in Jeollanam-do Province, in September, and International Forum, which is held in November. He also decided to actively support expo and meeting through the reviews regarding potentials as there are many interests in deer antlers and Chaga mushrooms. - The principal of the Republic of Tuva wanted a Korean language course to introduce Korean culture to the students who want to learn the culture and the President of National University requested NEAR’s support to establish a Korean language center. - Secretary General decided to discuss the period with related schools to dispatch Korean language speaking students to Russia for 6 month or 1 year. He also said that it would be possible to support Sejong Language Center, which has been operated by Korean government if the Korean language center can be established with proper number of people. □ Primorsky Krai Territory(August 8, 2013) - The Secretariat staff with Secretary General Kim officially visited Primorsky Krai to promote exchange and cooperation with Russian members. - Secretary General said that NEAR has been working for the whole Northeast Asia and he requested Primorsky Krai government’s interest and cooperation for NEAR Working Committee, which is held on September 10, and NEAR International Forum to be held in Vladivostok in November. - Sidorenko, Vice governor of Primorsky Krai, said that there are a lot of events planned by October in Primorsky Krai so that it would be impossible to hold the NEAR event in a short period of time. For the effective event, he recommended NEAR to hold the forum next year after full preparation - In addition, while visiting the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vladivostok, the NEAR Secretariat also sought cooperation for the promotion of friendly relations with Primorsky Krai government.
