The 11th Sub-Committee on Environment was held on November 31 in Toyama Prefecture, Coordinator of the Sub-Committee, Japan. In the Sub-Committee, participated by 8 member regions across 4 countries, there were the report on the current situation of Sub-Committee’s individual projects and activity reports starting from election of next-term coordinator. In addition, each member region delivered presentations regarding current situation of individual projects on environment and exchanged their opinions. The NEAR Secretariat promised to give active support and promotion for individual projects and events organized by member regions. Meanwhile, before the Sub-Committee was held, there was an opportunity for exchange between member regions and environmental organizations by holding ‘Northeast Asia Environment Activity Exchange Gathering’. The Sub-Committee was favorably received by participating members due to the fruitful contents such as a joint performance of environmental projects and it was a chance to broaden exchange and cooperation activities in the area of environment with participation of international organizations. Moreover, the NEAR Secretariat that visited Japan to take part in the Sub-Committee on Environment, requested active cooperation for future NEAR events by visiting Niigata and Ishikawa Prefectures and exchanged views for the NEAR development. The visit was a chance for the NEAR Secretariat to enhance network with member regions in Japan.
