The opening ceremony of the New United Nations Premises in I-Tower,Songdo, Incheon Metropolitan City, was held on May 31. The new Korean location will consolidate four United Nations offices: the ESCAP East and North-East Asia Subregional Office, the ESCAP Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT), the UNISDR Office for Northeast Asia together with the Global Education and Training Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific of UNCITRAL. Many participants attended the opening ceremony, including Dr. Noeleen Heyzer, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations; Mr. Song Young-gil, the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City; and NEAR Secretary General Kim Jae-hyo.
