NEAR Secretary-General Meets with Governor of Dornod Aimag and Vice-Governor of Selenge Aimag2023-09-12

On Wednesday, September 6, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin held a meeting with Myagmarsuren Badamsuren, governor of Dornod Aimag, and Jijigkhen Saintsog, vice governor of Selenge Aimaga. This meeting took place during the Fourth China-Mongolian Expo hosted by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a Mongolian NEAR member. The primary agenda was to discuss opportunities for mutual cooperation.


During the meeting, Mr. Lim provided an overview of the exchanges that have taken place with Mongolian NEAR members since his appointment and presented the NEAR Secretariat's upcoming business plans for the year. He encouraged Mongolia to actively participate in NEAR activities, emphasizing the country's significant role as the home to the largest number of NEAR members and its strategic importance in the current Northeast Asian context. Mr. Lim also extended an invitation for Mongolia to join the 14th General Assembly scheduled to be held in Ulsan this coming October.



In response, Governor M. Badamsuren of Dornod Aimag praised the constructive role that NEAR plays in promoting regional cooperation in Northeast Asia. He expressed his desire to enhance exchanges with NEAR members, including those from Korea, through collaboration with the NEAR Secretariat. Furthermore, he voiced his support for the NEAR Secretariat's upcoming projects for the coming year.


Vice-Governor J. Saintsog of Selenge Aimag pointed out that Selenge Aimag has a long history of involvement with NEAR, having joined earlier than other regions in Mongolia. He highlighted their active participation in numerous NEAR activities and noted his personal attendance at three NEAR General Assemblies. He reaffirmed his commitment to actively supporting NEAR activities in the future.
