On Tuesday, August 22, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin took part in and delivered remarks at the Third Northeast Asia Regional Cooperation Roundtable in Jilin, China. This significant session was a part of the 14th China-East Asia Expo and was co-hosted by NEAR, the People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries of China, and the Jilin Provincial Government.

The roundtable, held under the theme "Sharing New Opportunities, Jointly Seeking New Development," saw the participation of over 200 attendees, including high-level officials from six Northeast Asian countries' local governments. Notable figures such as Governor OH Young-hoon of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Governor D. Munkhbaatar of Tuv Aimag, Vice Governor KASATORI Goichi of Niigata Prefecture, Vice Governor PROKOPCHUK Valery of Primorsky Territory, and Chairman PARK Myung-ho of the Hamgyeongbuk-do Provincial People's Committee were among the attendees. Diplomatic representatives, including DPRK Consul General KOO Young-hyeok, were also present. The participants jointly issued a declaration on local government cooperation in Northeast Asia.

Preceding the roundtable on Monday, August 21, Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin participated in a welcome dinner hosted by Jilin Province. During the event, he introduced NEAR to Governor HU Yuting of Jilin province and Governor OH Young-hoon of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. He extended an invitation to them to attend the upcoming NEAR General Assembly scheduled to be held in Ulsan this coming October.
