MIYASHITA Soichiro, former mayor of Mutsu City, Aomori Prefecture was elected Aomori governor for the first time.


During his campaign, Mr. Miyashita pledged to make measures to secure jobs for young people, to shore up the local birthrate, and to improve the incomes of agricultural workers.


"Going forward, I want to make Aomori a prefecture that leads Japan with its policies," said Mr. Miyashita.
