History

  • It was originally called E and Huguang Province together with Hunan Province. In 1667 the province was divided into north and south by Dongting Lake.
  • During the Spring and Autumn period, , it was called the Chuo province because it was the area of Cho Dynasty, and the Prince of E built the capital in Wuhan and called E Province.
