Eastern Kingdom, established by Khun tail who was a Khotogchin hero of Oird chorigos Aimag, appeared in the middle of 17th Century, which is well known in the history of Central Asia, as well as the Mongolian history. After the victory of the People’s Revolution, the name ‘Dorvod’was discarded and the Chandman Mountain Province was selected by the decision of the first conference of labors in the west. The Mongolian government changed the legislation on the structure of administrative divisions in February 1931 based on their economy. According to this legislation, Chandmani Mountain Province was divided into two Provinces: Khovd and Uvs. In 1940, Bayan Ulgii Province was established by taking Khazah and Urainhai soum from the province.

Geography/Climate	Area : 76,000㎢ Location : It borders China to the west, Bayan Ulgii Aimag to the northwest, Zavkhan Aimag to the east and northeast, and Govi-Altai Aimag to the south. Climate: The average annual rainfall is 120~140mm. The average temperature is 17~25.5 degrees below zero in January, and 16.5 degrees at July. The wind velocity is 1m/sec, and the length of spring and fall is relatively long at 120~160 days.
