Akita Dog

A large breed dog originating from Akita prefecture, Japan, the Akita dog was declared a Japanese Natural Monument. Originally a hunting dog, the Akita has a stocky build and outstanding physical capabilities. It is famous for its loyalty, intelligence, and mildness. Akitas have a medium length, dense, fluffy coat. Triangle-shaped ears and a curly tail are traits of this breed. The famous Akita, Hachikō, was famed for his loyalty.

Akita City Exhibition Hall of Folklore (Neburinagasi Hall)

This exhibition features exhibits pertaining to folklore and festivals held in Akita City such as the Kantou Matsuri and the Tsuchizaki Minato Festival. Visitors can experience the festive atmosphere.

Natural View

Lake Tazawa

Lake Tazawa is Japan’s deepest lake with a depth of 423.4 meters. The lake is famous for its transparent glassy water surface and for the legend of Tatsuko, the legendary maiden of beauty.A glittering statue of Tatsuko situated against the transparent blue background is impressive. The Goza no Ishi Shrine stands at the northern end of the lake. Cruises pass through the Mud Flat(潟尻) between this shrine and Tatsuko statue.The scenery from the cruise in Lake Tazawa is also stunning.
